Intercultural encounters happen like any other human interaction, as part of our everyday lives and usually without much preparation. It is not even possible to prepare for every single encounter, nor necessary. And we usually forget many of the things we have heard or read a few times, and act based on our own automated behaviour and thought patterns anyway. Like all advice, it’s best if you modify it to fit your personality, behaviour, and preferences.
